IL Pig Farmers Team Up to Strike-Out Hunger

During the month of September, IL Pork Producers Association will be partnering with the Northern Illinois Foodbank, the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Jewel/Osco, and the Chicago Cubs on the Strike-Out Hunger campaign. All 179 Jewel/Osco stores will be participating in the food drive, where shoppers can donate non-perishable food items or purchased pre-packaged donation bags. Collection bins will include messages about how IL Pig Farmers care for their communities.

The Strike-Out Hunger campaign complements the IPPA’s Pork Power Program that helps feed hungry people throughout Illinois and demonstrates pig farmers' commitment of caring for their communities.  Thanks to the donation of many pig farmers and support of various partners, Pork Power has provided more than 437,000 pounds of pork amounting to more than 1.75 million servings of pork donated to Illinois food banks feeding Illinoisans since the program began in 2008.
